Donna practices as a CPC Intern in Nevada. She holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University and works with individuals and couples on identity, self-esteem, and relationship patterns, with particular attention to the experience of Asian American clients navigating family expectations and belonging.
Her Approach
Donna works with teens, adults, and older adults who recognize a pattern in their life they can’t quite name: the reflexive apology, the inability to disagree with a parent even as an adult, the argument with a partner that started over dishes and ended somewhere else entirely. She works with couples who love each other and still feel like they’re negotiating instead of talking. She also works with clients navigating what it means to carry two cultures, where family expectations and personal choices don’t always line up.
In session, Donna asks the kind of questions that trace a feeling back to where it started, not to dwell there but to understand why it keeps showing up now. She works at a pace that lets clients follow their own thinking rather than rushing toward a conclusion. Clients often say they leave sessions with a clearer picture of why they react the way they do, not just a plan for what to do next. She brings curiosity about a person’s history, which makes it easier to talk about things that felt too complicated to explain before.
