About

Joseph Printchett II

Joseph is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor Intern in Nevada, practicing since May 2025. He holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from San Diego State University and a Doctorate in Social Work from the University of Southern California. His clinical focus centers on trauma, depression, and anxiety in adults, with specialized depth in veteran reintegration and Native American healing practices.

His Approach

Joseph works with adults, particularly veterans, Native American clients, and Black and African American individuals carrying trauma that runs across generations. Many of his clients have lived through experiences that mainstream mental health systems were not designed to hold: the transition out of military service, the weight of growing up in an underserved community, or the particular exhaustion of managing PTSD while trying to maintain a career and family.

Sessions with Joseph bring together CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and person-centered work. He draws from The Medicine Blanket Project, a mental health intervention he developed that integrates Western therapy with traditional American Indian healing practices to address generational trauma at its root.

His Clinical Expertise

  • Veteran PTSD and Reintegration: Supporting service members and veterans navigating the psychological impact of military life, combat exposure, and the transition back to civilian life.
  • The Medicine Blanket Project: A mental health intervention Joseph created that combines Western therapeutic models with traditional American Indian healing practices to address generational trauma in families.
  • Disability Support Counseling: Working with students with disabilities in higher education settings, supporting academic achievement and personal development.
  • Doctoral-Level Trauma Research: Conducting research on trauma, PTSD, and culturally relevant interventions as part of doctoral training at the University of Southern California.
  • Military Peer Support: Providing informal counseling and support to fellow service members during active duty, addressing career transitions and personal struggles within the military context.
