Lisa Parker is working toward a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of the Cumberlands and practices as a student counselor in Nevada under licensed supervision. Her anxiety counseling in Nevada is informed by a prior career as a personal trainer, which shapes her focus on depression, stress, and the relationship between how people feel physically and how they function emotionally.
Her Approach
Lisa works with adults. Her clients often include people who have taken consistent care of their bodies for years and are surprised to find that it is not carrying them emotionally the way it once did. Others arrive having let those habits go entirely and are trying to untangle whether the neglect or the emotional decline came first.
Sessions with Lisa are organized and goal-directed, which reflects both her CBT training and her background as someone who understands how deliberate practice and habit change work. She uses CBT to help clients identify the thinking and behavior patterns sustaining stress, anxiety, and low mood, and treats self-compassion and self-care as parts of the clinical work itself rather than suggestions left for outside of sessions. Clients across diverse backgrounds find that her years of working one-on-one with people before entering the counseling field have shaped how she listens and adapts to what is in the room.
