Dementia Series: Top 10 Ways to Prevent Dementia

At Insight Therapy Solutions, we specialize in working with senior citizens. Many of our elderly clients have varying degrees of dementia, and we see that many of our elderly clients that do not have it, are worried about developing it. The good news is that dementia is not necessarily an inevitability. Studies have shown that we can be proactive in preventing this condition, and these are easy lifestyle changes! Here is what you can do:

  1. Take vitamins such as B6 and E
  2. Incorporate omega fatty acids into your diet
  3. Drink green tea
  4. Drink a glass of red wine once in a while (and it’s heart healthy, too!)
  5. Don’t overindulge in alcohol
  6. Get physically active–take a walk around the block, or go play golf
  7. Enjoy a rich and stimulating environment
  8. Keep your brain active–do some crossword puzzles or play sudoku
  9. Dance
  10. Don’t stress out
